Overview of Group X (Technical Trades) and Group Y (Non-Technical Trades)
There are both technical and non-technical trades included in the Indian Air Force Airmen Selection Test pattern. Both types of professionals earn a lot when they are under Indian Air Force. There are three rounds for both Group X and Group Y. The enrolled candidates have to pass all three rounds with good marks in order to get a job in their respective groups. You need to be an Indian nationality citizen to apply for the Indian Air Force Airmen Selection Test.

Nepalese men are also allowed to apply for the selection process. For the age limit, the Indian air force is really strict.

Exam pattern and syllabus:

1. Group X: Technical Trades

Based on the groups, the test subjects are different. For the X group or the technical group,

The subjects of the Indian Air Force Airmen Selection Test are English, mathematics, and physics.

The total mark from the selection test is 70 marks in the written phase.

The duration of the written test will be 60 minutes.

2. Group Y: Non-Technical Trades

For the non-technical trades, the test subjects will be Reasoning and general awareness as well as English with a total of marks 50, and the duration of the test will be 45 minutes.

Marking scheme and selection process :

Written exam: For the group X candidates, English questions hold 20 marks in weightage. The weightage for physics and mathematics is 25 marks each. On the other hand, RAGA holds 30 marks, and English holds 20 marks each for group Y candidates. The marking will be done in a sectional cutoff manner, and then there will be an overall cutoff on the written test.

Physical fitness test: The candidates will have to sit for the physical fitness test as the Indian air force requires a basic level of fitness. The candidates that go through the written test also have to do a 1.6 KM run in 6 minutes 30 seconds. They have to do 10 push-ups and 10 sit-ups too. The candidates also have to do 20 squats. These tests are not marking type but rather qualifying in a sense.

Adaptability test: Once the PFT is done, you also need to qualify for the SRT or situation reaction test. As airmen in the Indian Air Force, you will face many situations that will test your decision-making skills. The SRT has 45 situation reaction questions and 30 minutes of time to complete them.
